Formed during Harris Eisenstadt’s September, 2015 twelve-set residency at John Zorn’s venue The Stone in New York City, Old Growth Forest soonafter released its first recording on the Portuguese label Clean Feed to critical acclaim. Harris Eisenstadt, Jeb Bishop, Tony Malaby, and Jason Roebke are each respected, instantly-recognizable musical voices in the worlds of adventurous, international jazz and improvised music. Eisenstadt pens wide-ranging themes for the group, emphasizing spontaneity and close listening alongside propulsive groove and textural exploration.
