Robin Holcomb
Pianist, composer, librettist, singer and songwriter Robin Holcomb remains as enigmatic as she is acclaimed. Since her strikingly experimental 1989 debut Larks They Crazy she's been a collaborator to remarkable breadth of artists including John Zorn, Bill Frisell, the McGarrigles, Eyvind Kang, and many more.
Her body of work spans just a wide a range from orchestral pieces to pensive songwriting and has appeared on notable imprints such as Tzadik, Songlines, and Nonesuch and in concert at Carnegie Hall, The Meltdown Festival, The United Nations, Teatro Manzoni, the Moers Music Festival, The Festival of Perth, The Hong Kong Arts Festival, Vancouver and Earshot Jazz Festivals, and elsewhere.
Her musical partnership with celebrated composer, pianist and electronic musician Wayne Horvitz (Carla Bley, John Zorn, Michael Shrieve, Fred Frith) will be heard at this year's event and was once dubbed “staggeringly beautiful” by the New York Times.
